Bluetooth Wireless Headset for Office, Home or On the
Go!

GN Netcom's all new GN 6210 Bluetooth wireless headset works seamlessly
with your standard office and bluetooth mobile phone, providing a 33 foot
range, up to 8 hours of talk time and comfortable behind-the-ear wearing
style. Visit the official Bluetooth
website to learn about more devices that will work with your 6210
headset.
The GN 6210 is far superior to other headsets in that with other headsets,
the user must manually select the pairing, instructing the headset to
connect to a particular device. The GN 6210's pairings to its base (connected
to the desktop phone) and to the Bluetooth mobile phone are active simultaneously.
Meaning calls from either phone will be connected to your headset with
no change in settings.

Pairing Guide
Pairing your GN 6210 with your Bluetooth headset needs to be done only
once. However, it is important that you use the correct profile when pairing.
Most headsets use either the headset or handsfree profile. To ascertain
which profile your phone uses, check your instruction guide or call your

GN 6210 Frequently Asked Questions:
Does the GN 6210 work the same way with all Bluetooth-enabled mobile
phones? How do I know if it is compatible?
While the GN 6210 is compatible with ALL Bluetooth mobile phones, the
setup, such as initial pairing, may vary slightly. On some phones, you
may have to delete previous pairings first.
Pairing the GN 6210 was unsuccessful. What do I do now?
Delete the existing pairing and check the compatibility chart on the pairing
guide. When pairing, remember to disconnect the power supply to the base
unit.
My headset's pairing to the base doesn't seem to work properly, what
should I do?
Try resetting your base unit and headset. To reset your base, use a pointed
object to press the reset button on the bottom of the base for 2 seconds.
To reset the headset, press and hold the headset's volume down button
and simultaneously press the headset's Multifunction button for 5 seconds.
If I want to use my headset at home and the office, can I pair my
headset to more than one base?
Yes, you can use the same headset with 2 base units.
Can I use more than one headset with my base unit?
No. However, if you need to replace your headset, a new headset may be
paired with your original base.
Do I lose pairing when I move out of range from my base unit or mobile
phone?
No. When you move back into range, your headset will link up again.
How is the GN6210 different from other devices that can pair to more
than one device?
With other headsets, the user must manually select the pairing, instructing
the headset to connect to a particular device. The GN 6210's pairings
to its base (connected to the desktop phone) and to the Bluetooth mobile
phone are active simultaneously. Meaning calls from either phone will
be connected to your headset with no change in settings.

What happens when my mobile and office phones ring at the same time?
The call whose signal reaches the GN 6210 first will be put through to
the headset. The GN
1000 Remote Handset Lifter, an optional accessory, attaches to the
base unit and desk phone. When using the GN1000 RHL, the desk and mobile
phones will produce a different ring tone so you'll always know which
phone you are answering.
How does the headset know which device to use for outbound calls?
To make an outbound call, the user must press the multifunction button.
A short press connects to the desk phone, while a long (2-3 second) press
connects to the mobile phone.
I have a Nokia mobile phone and I don't like having to press both
the mobile phone's answer button and the headset's multifunction button
to answer calls. What else can I do?
You only need to press the headset's multifunction button for 3 seconds
to take the call.
My automatic voice dialing feature does not always recognize my voice
commands. How can I fix this?
When saving your voice tags and commands to your mobile phone, use the
GN 6210.
Does
the GN 6210 work with analog phones?
Because it plugs into the standard handset jack on the phone, it is compatible
with virtually every phone on the market. The base unit has a compatibility
switch that needs to be set for optimized use. Because of its reliance
on the handset jack, the GN 6210 is not compatible with cordless phones.
Do I still have to pick up the handset on my desk phone when making
or answering a call?
Some PBX systems can be programmed to open a connection without removing
the handset. Check with your system administrator. The GN
1000 Remote Handset Lifter raises and lowers the handset automatically.
How do I adjust the volume on the GN 6210?
The blue microphone adjustment button on the bottom of the base unit controls
volume. Ideally, the volume on your mobile and office phones should be
set at mid-range position. If you need a louder voice level, consider
changing your small MiniGel ear gel to the standard MiniGel ear gel.
Callers complain that my voice sounds distorted and/or metallic. Can
I fix that?
This may happen when your office or mobile phone's volume control is set
too high. It may also occur if the volume button on the base unit of your
headset is set too high. Voice quality may be temporarily distorted while
the GN 6210 adjusts its settings. If the condition persists, try adjusting
the microphone volume button (at the bottom of the base unit) until your
voice sounds clear.

How long does it take to charge the battery?
Approximately 2 hours. It is important that you charge the unit completely
before the first use.
When I remove the headset from the base and press the base's Multifunction
button, the blue on-line indicator flashes rapidly. Is this normal?
Yes, your base unit is linking to your headset.
My headset is not working and the battery flash indicators flash sequentially.
What does this mean?
Your headset is no longer paired to the base unit. You will need to pair
your headset and base unit again.
The "AUX" port looks like and Ethernet port. Is this for
VoIP connection?
NO, this is the connector for the GN
1000 Remote Handset Lifter. However your headset works with VoIP either
through a handset or accessory that plugs directly into the computer.
All the indicators on the base illuminate simultaneously after the
blue on-line indicator flashes. Is this normal?
Yes, the headset is checking its settings and may perform a soft reset
if needed. The soft reset does not alter saved settings or performance.
However, you will need to press the Multifunction button once after all
the indicators on the base have illuminated simultaneously in order to
reestablish the link between the headset and base.
I hear a ringing tone in my headset, but there is no incoming call.
How do I fix this?
This occurs when the GN 1000 RHL's sensitivity is too high. Use the control
knob at the back of the unit to decrease sensitivity.
What about Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) remote answering functionality?
Certain types of office telephones have special software that allows you
to answer remotely without need for the GN 1000 RHL. Check with your administrator.
Special note about Nortel Meridian office phones:
These phones have a special type of built-in remote answering functionality.
If you hear your Meridian telephone ring (the ring ton will not be heard
in the headset), press the Multifunction button for 1 second to answer
the call. Press the Multifunction button again for 1 second to end the
call.

About Bluetooth Technology
Bluetooth is an industry standard specification for wireless
devices. "Bluetooth" was originally a codename and is named
after 10th century Danish Viking king who united large parts of Scandanavia.
The name was chosen to highlight the potential of the technology to unify
the telecommunications and computing industries.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is an industry
group that standardizes the Bluetooth System for wireless personal device
networks. Bluetooth is a rapidly growing technology that allows people
to use wireless devices that transmit data within a 10 meter radius.
It provides a way to connect and exchange information between
wireless devices such as Mobile Phones, PDA's, Laptops, PC's, Printers,
and Digital Cameras, via a low cost, globally available short-range radio
frequency.
