Valcom Paging SystemsReach all your employees, customers or patients all at once with Valcom Paging systems. Valcom offers systems and speakers for retail settings, offices, school, medical settings, carwashes, manufacturing facilities and more. Putting together a new paging system can be a little intimidating, so we present this simple three step process to help you design the perfect system for your location. Browse all Valcom items. Step One - Choose a Page ControlThe page control is the "brain" of the paging system and provides
the connection points for system inputs and speake Decide how many zones you need. A zone is a speaker or group of speakers that you need to be able to transmit pages to apart from the rest of the speakers on the system. Available numbers of page zones range from 1-94 zones (1-24 without expansions). Decide if you need one-way or talkback/intercom paging. One-way paging allows a public address announcement, but no transmission of a response from the paged area. Talkback or intercom paging allows individuals in the paged area to respond through the paging speakers of horns. Keep this decision in mind when deciding which speakers and/or horns to buy. Talkback control units are V2003AHF and V9941A. What special features will you need? What telephone access method/port will you use? Options are FXO (loop start trunk port), FXS (station port), 600 ohm page port or a stand-alone single telephone set. Consult your telephone system administrator or installer for assistance. Each Page Control Unit can support up to 150 Valcom one-way amplified speakers on the audio. View all Page Control Units
Step Two - Choose Speakers and Horns
Will the speakers or horns be used in indoor, outdoor or industrial environments? Horns offer high efficiency, rugged construction and superb voice quality. Horns are typically used outdoors or in loud, industrial or harsh interior areas. Speakers are generally used for interior environments and provide high quality music and voice reproduction. Speakers are designed to sound good and look good. It¹s easy to use hundreds of one-way speakers in a zone. How many square feet are included in the area to receive paging announcements?
How high and what type of ceilings will be involved? How much background
noise will need to be overcome? Is style, décor or color an issue? Speaker and Horn Spacing Guide

Often you will not need an auxiliary power supply. To determine your
power needs, determine the number of VPUs made available, then determine
and subtract from the VPUs available how many VPUs will be used. VPU supply
or usage is clearly spelled out in the item descriptions.
Example: Contol Unit 2001A provides 20 VPUs. Speaker 1010C uses 1 VPU. So, a system using 2001A and 8 1010C speakers would leave a surplus of 12 VPUs. No power supply would be needed and another 12 1010C speakers could still be added to the system.
